I-HUMAN
In the not-too-distant future, dominated by technological jungle, associated alienation, and where only capital and consumption prevail. L.I.A., a robot, tries to find her place in society. On this journey, her interaction with humans proves more difficult than she ever imagined. L.I.A. has freedom of thought and different values.
Will she be able to integrate into this world? Or will something have to change?
what the festival has to say
The artists' constant experimental quest often leads us to processes of image construction and completely distinctive mechanics, where technology blends 2D and 3D universes. Societies inhabited by technological figures, which frequently resemble humans and reproduce their behaviour, leading us to question where the humanity of these figures lies.
This show is an experience, a profound experimentation between technological universes and digital challenges, always maintaining human behaviour as the starting point for reflection on the genesis of artificial and human technological intelligence. It is undoubtedly a challenging proposal that we are sure will raise a number of pressing questions in today's society.
ANYMAMUNDY – Teatro de Rua e Criação plástica
ANYMAMUNDY is an independent project dedicated to the performing arts, which aims to promote and innovate in the field of street performances, exploring physical spaces, public spaces, and unconventional themes, combining performing arts with visual arts.
The ANYMAMUNDY project took its first steps in 1998, resulting from the union between two visual artists, Pedro Estevam and Marisa Vieira. Initially focused exclusively on the visual arts, it explores sculpture, modelling, and painting through the production of handcrafted pieces and the creation of decorations for spaces and events. In 2001, it joined forces with performative theatre, with which it established an immediate connection. Since then, focusing on multidisciplinary training, including circus arts, dance and movement, music, voice, and interpretation, the project has developed, embracing various components of the performing arts.
Between 2010 and 2017, she welcomed students from the IKASLAN school's makeup and special effects course to her FX laboratory through EUROYOUTH, as part of the LEONARDO DA VINCI project. She also welcomed students from the Chapitô workshops for internships.

that's how
I-HUMAN had its premiere at the Gondomar Municipal Auditorium. Given the close relationship between this edition of Encontro and the Anymamundy company, we established a broad project that consisted of training at the beginning of the Ei! Marionetas programming season. Now, with the program in full swing, we welcome the presentation of this creation, whose development we have been following.
Pedro Estevam has carried out various explorations, mixing and giving shape to puppets that combine mechanisms, programming, robotics, and digital processes, which in itself is a creation full of countless challenges. During the show, we see a character, a robot, who creates a deep empathy with the inaccuracies and imperfections that so characterize human quality. In an extraordinary manipulation where the video projection acts directly, interacting with this robot, creating different universes in an exquisite manipulation where no detail is overlooked. We thus see a figure that points to paths that bring us very close to this current thinking about the presence of artificial intelligence. Throughout the show, moments of tension are created, always in this game of who manipulates whom, and we wonder if what is unfolding is a real act or a previously prepared act, thus creating an extraordinary illusion.
We believe that this is a show that points to different paths and that stems from the very personal investment of these artists. It is a project that we deeply hope will continue, develop, and tour widely. We believe that this is undoubtedly the first step in a project that deserves to be watched. Some artists embody possibilities and discoveries from different artistic universes, and we are constantly surprised by their creativity, dedication, and generosity, which always leaves us believing that this artistic path is above all a necessity for personal well-being.
It was very interesting to see our room filled with a very engaged, very attentive audience, very infected by the scale of what was unfolding on stage, and we undoubtedly believe that this artist, this structure, deserves close attention from cultural programmers, who will certainly be surprised by a set of elements that reflect very current thinking.
We are deeply grateful for this moment, which enhanced the program of this festival. We are certain that this team undoubtedly deserves careful attention and appreciation.
